Thermal PV panels, also known as solar collectors, are devices that use the sun’s energy to produce heat. They are often used to heat water in buildings, swimming pools, dryers, greenhouses and other heating applications.

CONSTRUCTION OF SOLAR PANELS

Thermal solar panels consist of flat or vacuum collectors that are placed on the roof or a special mounting structure. Solar collectors are constructed of thin tubes or a flat plate. They are usually painted black or have special coatings to effectively absorb solar energy.

When the sun’s rays fall on the panels, energy is transferred to the liquid inside the collector. This liquid is heated by absorbing solar energy and can be stored in a hot water tank or transferred to a facility’s heating system.

USE OF SOLAR PANELS

Solar thermal panels are used for heating domestic water, heating houses or swimming pools, as well as in industry and agriculture. They help reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions because they use clean, free and renewable solar energy.

SOLAR PANELS AND PHOTOVOLTAICS: TWO DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES THAT DRAW FROM THE SUN 

Solar thermal panels and photovoltaics (solar PV) are two different technologies that use the sun’s energy to convert it into heat and electricity.

Both technologies have their uses and benefits. Solar PV provides electricity that can be used for various purposes, while solar thermal panels focus on producing heat for heating purposes.

Solar panels can be used as an independent heat source or combined with a traditional heating system.

Depending on your needs and local conditions, you can opt for one of these technologies or even combine them to use both electricity and solar heat.
