Cogeneration also referred to as combined heat and power (CHP) is the process of generating electric energy and heat at the same time.
Unlike separate production of energy, cogeneration makes much more efficient use of a fuel, while also reducing the cost of producing end energy. At the same time, the CHP technology contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere, which makes it even more attractive, given the increasing prices of carbon dioxide emission allowances.
The small sizes of CHP systems is their yet another advantage. Thanks to their compact size and a wide range of power output (from a few kilowatts to a few megawatts), these devices are a perfect means of promoting distributed power generation, while the possibility of installing close to the end user reduces grid losses.
The range of products offered by Eneria sp. z o.o. includes individually tailored power generation systems, complex turnkey systems, container-housed cogeneration generator sets, and flexible modular generator sets, enabling you to immediately start delivering clean and cheap energy at any place.
The engine and generator are the key parts of any cogeneration system with internal combustion that runs on gaseous fuels. These two devices are coupled with each other and installed on a shared frame. This way the mechanical energy output by the engine shaft is converted to electrical energy by the generator. The heat generated during engine operation is recovered and transferred through the heat exchanger system to the Customer’s heat system as process steam, cold or hot water.
The key advantages of systems based on Caterpillar gas engines are as follows:
• Rapid start-up and operation with nominal load available;
• High efficiency of electricity generation in a wide range of power outputs;
• Variety of fuels (natural gas, LNG, biogas, specialty gases);
• Energy generation at locations distant from transmission networks and for emergency power supply purposes.
Caterpillar CHP generator sets are famous for their flexibility, performance, and efficiency.
Distributed energy CHP generator sets can be equipped with various optimised gas engines powered by natural gas, biogas or other specialty gases.
The offer includes Caterpillar gas generator sets with power outputs from 400 to 9,750 kWe available as a single device adapted for combined operation either in parallel to the power grid or in island mode. Up to this day, Eneria Group has installed and is operating cogeneration sets with a total capacity exceeding 700 MW. Design, configuration, installation, servicing – our offer includes all of these, tailored to the individual needs of the customer. With many years of experience in efficient cogeneration our staff is ready to assist you at any stage of a project.
Today, Eneria Group has installed and is operating cogeneration sets with a total capacity above 700 MW. With Caterpillar’s unique and practical solutions offered by Eneria, these sets are becoming increasingly popular.
Due to megatrends in energy natural gas is an increasingly attractive fuel for the industry, power engineering and also for individual consumers. With our generator sets you will be able to take advantage of the possibilities offered by this gas.
