The Polish Data Center Market on the Threshold of 500 MW

The Polish data center (DC) market is experiencing an unprecedented boom, dynamically positioning the country as a key player and a strategic hub in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. Market forecasts indicate that the total capacity of Poland’s DC infrastructure is set to nearly triple, exceeding 500 MW by 2030. This target places Poland among the fastest-growing data center ecosystems in Europe.

Hyperscale Expansion and Energy Challenges

The main driving force behind this growth is hyperscalers and cloud service providers. The presence of global leaders such as Equinix, EdgeConneX, DATA4, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google confirms strong confidence in the Polish market. A clear example of the scale of investment is Microsoft’s announcement from February 2025 regarding PLN 2.8 billion (approx. USD 700 million) allocated to the expansion of AI and cloud infrastructure in Poland.

This rapid growth is generating unprecedented energy challenges. Applications submitted to the Polish Transmission System Operator (PSE) for data center connections amount to a total requested capacity of 13 GW. Although this figure is inflated due to speculative capacity reservations, data centers will consume several gigawatts of power within the next decade, posing a significant challenge for energy suppliers.

The sector must also comply with ESG regulations. The delegated act of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) of 14 March 2024 requires the reporting of 30 indicators, including renewable energy consumption. Operators are therefore investing in low-emission solutions, using renewable energy sources, HVO fuel, and considering SMR technologies to ensure stable power supply.

The Foundation of Security: Redundancy and Generators

For data centers, operational continuity is the highest priority. Even a brief outage can result in enormous financial losses and the risk of data loss.
