In a world of growing energy uncertainty, dynamic electricity prices, and unstable generation sources based on RES, power supply stability is becoming a key requirement for businesses. From data centers to automated production lines—any interruption in energy supply can generate significant financial losses and disrupt a company’s operational continuity.
This is precisely why hybrid systems, which combine photovoltaics (PV), energy storage, and power generators, are gaining importance. Eneria, by offering comprehensive solutions in this area, is revolutionizing how energy is managed in business—combining ecology, economics, and security in one cohesive system.
A hybrid system is the intelligent integration of three independent energy sources, supervised by an advanced Energy Management System (EMS). It’s not a simple connection of devices, but their synchronized cooperation, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.
The basic, clean source of electrical energy, utilizing the intensity of solar radiation to generate electricity during the day.
The generated energy is stored in lithium-ion batteries, allowing it to be used at night, on cloudy days, or during peak demand hours. Besides capturing PV installation surpluses, the storage unit can also be charged from the grid during periods of low energy prices, to then be used during the more expensive daily peak hours.
It serves as a reserve source, automatically activated in an emergency when both the generated power from PV and the energy in the storage unit are low. Thanks to integration with the EMS, the generator operates only when necessary—in a mode optimized for load and fuel consumption.
Combining PV, energy storage, and a generator is a strategic investment that goes far beyond standard backup power.
The energy storage unit acts as an immediate buffer—in case of a grid voltage drop, it can provide uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in milliseconds.
The power generator, in turn, constitutes a second, time-unlimited layer of protection, guaranteeing operational continuity even during long-term outages.
This solution is crucial for critical infrastructure, such as data centers, hospitals, or plants with limited access to a stable power grid.
Energy storage enables load profile smoothing (Peak Shaving). It supplies energy during moments of highest demand, which allows for stable operation of the generator or the grid, while simultaneously limiting costs resulting from exceeding the contracted power limit.
In a traditional emergency setup, the generator often operates under low load, resulting in a drop in its efficiency and increased fuel consumption.
In a hybrid system, the generator starts less frequently but operates more effectively—it charges the depleted energy storage at optimal load, which limits losses, reduces fuel consumption, and minimizes the risk of so-called wet stacking.
Energy storage also acts as a reservoir optimizing the energy balance. Thanks to an appropriately selected charging and discharging strategy, based on weather forecasts and energy prices, it is possible to significantly reduce the costs of purchasing and distributing energy.
In hybrid systems with a generator, it is advisable to designate a reserve battery capacity—e.g., 30%—dedicated exclusively to the emergency function, which guarantees the system’s full readiness regardless of the current state of charge.
The key to success is not the equipment itself, but its proper integration.
The selection of appropriate components—inverters, energy storage units, and generators—must be strictly tailored to the object’s characteristics and energy consumption profile.
Eneria uses advanced Energy Management Systems (EMS) that analyze data on production, consumption, and battery state of charge in real time. The system automatically decides whether at a given moment to:
Such management guarantees maximum operational efficiency, minimal fuel consumption, and complete energy security of the facility.
The hybrid system PV + storage + generator is a modern solution that:
