Nowy Sącz Leads the Green Transition: Eneria Implements High-Efficiency Cogeneration Project for MPEC Nowy Sącz

Nowy Sącz, Poland – In the heart of the Sądecki Beskids, the Municipal Heating Company (MPEC) Nowy Sącz has played a crucial role in supplying heat to residents for nearly 30 years. The company, whose heating network is based on renewable energy sources and cogeneration for over half of its operations, constantly strives for modernization and innovation. The latest stage of this transformation was the construction of a high-efficiency cogeneration unit in Stary Sącz, completed by the company Eneria, which will significantly contribute to the region’s green transition.

The Stary Sącz project was supported by an 8 million PLN loan from the National Recovery Plan (KPO) under the “City Transformation” initiative. This investment is an exemplary case of effectively utilizing European funds for sustainable energy development.

Eneria – Expert in Cogeneration Solutions

Eneria, as an experienced provider of comprehensive energy solutions, played a key role in the execution of this strategic investment. The company was responsible for the design and execution of construction works, as well as the supply and installation of advanced technological equipment. As Krzysztof Krzyszycha, Key Account Manager at Eneria, emphasizes, the Bergerat Monnoyeur company supplied the cogeneration unit, based on a CAT CG170B-12 gas engine with an electrical output of 1200 kW and a thermal output of 1270 kW. The entire installation was also equipped with an emergency power supply system, provided by a CAT DE165E0 generator set with a capacity of 165 kVA.

The work also included constructing the foundations for the cogeneration unit, the emergency power generator set, and the transformer station. Care was also taken to ensure appropriate acoustics, tailored to the facility’s location, and the hydraulic and automated integration with the existing gas boiler.

The installation was commissioned in the spring of this year. Eneria is known for its comprehensive “turnkey” cogeneration project implementations, from concept to execution and service, which is confirmed by numerous successful investments across Poland.

Benefits for Nowy Sącz and the Region

The new high-efficiency cogeneration unit allowed MPEC Nowy Sącz to achieve an efficient heating system, bringing numerous tangible benefits. As Paweł Kupczak, President of MPEC Nowy Sącz, points out, the 1.2 MW installation operates as a base load, providing heat to the residents of Stary Sącz, both in older buildings and in newly developing areas, including the economic activity zone and new housing estates.
