The risk of losing data in the event of a power outage is very serious, so securing the power supply is a priority. Due to the challenges posed by Data Centre customers, industry professionals are also increasingly concerned with ensuring that their installations do not pollute the environment. That is why Eneria, an energy solutions provider in Poland and abroad, has specialised in securing data centres and providing alternative power with low CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What equipment is used to secure data centre power?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The data centre requires a constant supply of electricity to operate and cool the servers. It does not tolerate any power outages, because in such a situation data can be completely lost. Here is why data centres are equipped with inverters and power generators to provide electrical power.<\/p>\n<p>Interest in alternative and clean solutions to <a href=\"https:\/\/eneria.pl\/en\/offer\/comprehensive-solutions-for-data-centers\/emergency-power-supply-for-data-centers\/\">secure data centres<\/a> continues to grow, and Eneria participates in this type of investment comprehensively &#8211; from design to operation.<\/p>\n<p>In the event of a power failure, the inverters are the first to take over until the generators are started. At Eneria, we have developed technology that replaces traditional lead-acid batteries. These are flywheels, 100% mechanical, which rely on a rotating metal mass to store energy in place of a battery. This equipment has many advantages for reducing the overall carbon footprint of the system:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>material composition (mainly metal) that facilitates recycling compared to classic batteries;<\/li>\n<li>high efficiency (significantly reducing electricity consumption during use);<\/li>\n<li>twice as long service life;<\/li>\n<li>limited footprint (less impact on infrastructure construction).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What innovations can reduce the carbon footprint of generators?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A fuel called HVO, based on vegetable oil, was introduced to offer an alternative to generators powered by traditional diesel fuel. Its main advantage is its ability to reduce the overall carbon footprint of a system by 50-60% without any modification or impact on the performance of existing installations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hydrogen also could be an alternative to oil for power generators<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eneria can currently offer two different technologies for hydrogen-powered generators<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 kVA group operating on a fuel cell developed by our partner EODev and assembled at the Eneria factory in Monthl\u00e9ry.<\/li>\n<li>1250 kVA group operating with a Caterpillar generator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_9936\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9936\" class=\"wp-image-9936 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/eneria.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SCENE-30-03-21-scene-beton-REX-GEH2-HD-7ret.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eneria.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SCENE-30-03-21-scene-beton-REX-GEH2-HD-7ret.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/eneria.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SCENE-30-03-21-scene-beton-REX-GEH2-HD-7ret-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eneria.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SCENE-30-03-21-scene-beton-REX-GEH2-HD-7ret-768x384.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9936\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GEH2: hydrogen-powered generator<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Has Eneria developed other innovative solutions for data centres?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eneria has already been developing an installation to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines since 2015. Nitrogen oxides are a major pollutant. The solutions, developed by Eneria&#8217;s French subsidiary called Neaux Box, involve continuous inflow of a light water mist into the engine&#8217;s exhaust gas to improve combustion quality and reduce nitrogen oxides related to the diesel combustion process. This reduces the engine&#8217;s nitrogen oxide emissions by 40%. We already know of about 30 data centres in France where the solution has been installed. It has the advantage of reliability and ease of installation compared to other technologies on the market, including those already in operation \u2013 so whether to introduce this solution to Poland as well is worth considering.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, following the trends of the energy transition in Poland, Eneria proposes hybrid solutions involving the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/eneria.pl\/en\/offer\/comprehensive-solutions-for-data-centers\/photovoltaics-for-data-center-facilities\/\">photovoltaic cells<\/a> on the building or in the immediate vicinity of the Data Centre facility.
