Smart power systems

The threats related, among other things, to the shortage of primary energy resources and insufficient efficiency of energy generation and transmission fostered the introduction of new power grid technologies and standards. An intelligent energy supply system commonly referred to as “smart grids” is such a standard, and it is ready to meet the expectations of the 21st century. A smart grid provides electricity, or – more broadly – energy services to consumers by means of IT solutions, which reduces costs, increases efficiency and integrates distributed energy sources, including renewable ones.
